Juan Archuleta is the new Bellator World Champion for the Bantamweight Division
Juan “The Spaniard” Archuleta is a mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter with a winning personality and winning record to match (24 wins, 2 losses as a pro). You might expect him to be at least somewhat cold hearted and intimidating, after all MMA is a brutal sport. Juan’s big heart is reflected in his willingness to share credit, his desire to win for the sake of others, and the grace and respect he shows competitors.
Here is a great example, from an interview done just before the championship fight. After describing the competitive advantage of using NanoVi, the interviewer asked about keeping NanoVi a secret from his opponents. In classic Juan Archuleta style this is how it went:
Two outstanding athletes made it a great championship match
Juan’s opponent in the title match was Patchy “No Love” Mix. He was undefeated and had never needed more than three rounds to polish off his opponents. Meeting Juan in the ring was a different story. Patchy came into the fight with an advantage being taller and having a longer reach. This meant he could possibly strike Juan down more easily. Juan ended up landing more strikes in a flurry of punches that lasted throughout the fight. Patchy was not able to shut him down early, or to muster the strength and fortitude for the long haul. The fight went 5 rounds. It required skill, energy, endurance, mental acuity, and strength of character. Juan Archuleta had it all. And his win by unanimous decision to confirms it. Patchy Mix was a strong opponent, no doubt the MMA world will see more of him. Defeating Patchy is a huge accomplishment for Juan and we can’t congratulate and applaud him enough. And we thank both men for a great fight.
What role did NanoVi play?
According to Juan Archuleta, NanoVi had a real impact on his training and fight preparation. He was gracious enough to talk about it the day before he had to weigh in for the fight. Here is a clip of Juan talking about NanoVi, it will also give you a glimpse of his winning personality.
The mental challenges of MMA are at least as big as the physical side of the contest. Fighters have a lot riding on each fight. To perform their best, they must find just the right balance between stress and calm. Like other of top competitors, being energized and at the same time clear is the sweet spot for Juan. He certainly appreciates how NanoVi helps him find this balance, we’ll let him describe it:
Will we see more of NanoVi in MMA?
NanoVi is gaining attention in the of MMA world. The sport is so mentally and physically challenging that bouncing back faster translates into a competitive advantage. Two current Bellator World Champions already have the NanoVi advantage. Heavyweight World Champion Ryan Bader has been using NanoVi at his recovery center, Cerulean Human Health Performance in Scottsdale. The new Bantamweight Bellator World Champion, Juan Archuleta, was lucky enough to have a NanoVi Exo with him to use during quarantine and after the fight. Like Ryan, Juan was introduced to NanoVi by his performance center, in this case O2 HealthLab in Newport Beach.
Heavyweight and Bantamweight are two of Bellator’s 7 divisions so there is still a way to go before NanoVi becomes “the standard device of Bellator Champions”. All MMA fighters have a big need for repair and regeneration, so we expect to see a lot more reliance on NanoVi in the sport.
